COMMUNITY ADVENTURE PROGRAM

The Community Adventure Program (CAP) offers a dynamic and memorable summer experience for children ages 6–14, built around safe, active, and fun-filled days at the Near North Enviro-Education Centre in Sundridge.

Rooted in the values of respect, teamwork, and environmental stewardship, CAP blends outdoor adventure with creativity and play. Each day is designed to keep kids engaged and energized through a wide range of activities, including swimming, sports, arts and crafts, games, canoeing, and hands-on environmental learning.

CAP goes beyond traditional day camp programming by creating opportunities for growth, discovery, and connection. Weekly specializations allow participants to dive deeper into specific interests, while cumulative programming supports skill development over multiple weeks. As children return, they build on what they’ve learned—progressing through levels, gaining confidence, and developing a stronger connection to the outdoors.

Choice-based activities are also integrated throughout the day, giving participants the freedom to explore their interests, build independence, and shape their own experience.

Whether attending for a single week or the full summer, CAP offers an environment where kids can try new things, build friendships, and develop skills that last well beyond the season.

ALL SUMMER PROGRAM

The All Summer Program offers a unique opportunity for participants to fully immerse themselves in the CAP experience, building skills, confidence, and friendships over the course of the entire season. As the summer unfolds, participants benefit from consistent progression—deepening their abilities, exploring new challenges, and gaining a stronger sense of independence week after week. Just as important, they become part of a close-knit community, forming lasting relationships with peers and leaders in an environment that feels familiar, supportive, and truly their own. This extended journey creates a richer, more meaningful experience that simply can’t be replicated in a single week.

Launched in the summer of 2017 and refined in further years,  NNEEC is providing opportunities for employment and educating young leaders while providing an active, educational and fun day program. The program is a pilot project in developing new educational, economic and employment opportunities within a rural community.
